NICASA Demands Investigation After Nigerian Bishop Taiwo Fakunle Is Shot Dead in Johannesburg
The Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa has called for a thorough investigation into the killing of Bishop Taiwo Fakunle, a 58-year-old Nigerian resident in Johannesburg. Fakunle was reportedly shot several times by two gunmen who gained access to his home in Kensington on September 4. A murder case has been opened at Jeppe Police Station, while police investigations continue. NICASA said it has informed the Nigerian Consulate General in Johannesburg and urged South African authorities to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible. The association also appealed for calm among Nigerians in South Africa and expressed condolences to the bishop’s family, church and community.
