North Korea Denies FBI Claim It Was Behind Reported $6 Billion Binance Hack
North Korea has rejected the FBI’s claim that a hacking group linked to the country was responsible for a reported $6 billion theft from Binance. Kim Yo Jong called the accusation a “grave political provocation” and said it was intended to damage North Korea’s international standing. Her remarks were carried by state-run media on Tuesday, November 3. The FBI attributed the attack to TraderTraitor, a group it associates with North Korea. The group was also blamed for the $1.5 billion Bybit theft in February last year. News of the reported Binance breach was followed by sharp falls in major cryptocurrency prices. US President Donald Trump said he did not know whether North Korea was involved. Kim Yo Jong accused Washington of hostility and said the allegations showed a continued effort to undermine her country’s reputation.
