Fayose Blasts First Lady’s Call on Davido and Burna Boy, Cites Govs’ Car Purchases

Fayose Blasts First Lady’s Call on Davido and Burna Boy, Cites Govs’ Car Purchases

Businessman Isaac Fayose has challenged First Lady Remi Tinubu’s recent appeal for top Afrobeats stars to fund poverty relief. Speaking in Kogi State, the First Lady urged artists like Davido, Burna Boy and Asake to set up foundations and help pepper sellers, okra vendors and other small traders instead of only buying luxury cars. In a video shared on social media, Fayose fired back. He questioned why Mrs. Tinubu once asked governors to buy new cars for APC women leaders instead of using those funds to support poor Nigerians.

Do you think it's fair for Fayose to question the First Lady's appeal to Afrobeats stars rather than holding governors accountable?

I agree, it seems odd to focus on Afrobeats stars instead of governors' unchecked spending.

It's telling that Fayose highlights governors' luxury car purchases while calling on Davido and Burna Boy to support pepper sellers and okra vendors.

I'm not convinced that public entertainers should fill systemic welfare gaps when elected officials control the budget and resources.

A more sustainable approach might see the federal government establish formal partnerships with artists to directly fund grassroots traders.
