Iran Denies Formal Invitation to Join Saudi-Türkiye-Pakistan Defence Pact

Iran says it has not received a formal invitation to join the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement involving Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Tehran has, however, received proposals for dialogue on collective regional security. He added that Iran does not believe the agreement is specifically aimed at it. The clarification followed a report claiming that Iranian leaders were reviewing an invitation to join the pact.
