Seven Soldiers Reportedly Killed as ISWAP Attacks Military Base in Borno
Suspected ISWAP fighters reportedly attacked a Forward Operating Base in Gajiram, Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State, on Thursday evening. Military sources said seven soldiers were killed during a gun battle. The attackers were also said to have briefly overpowered the base and set fire to gun trucks and other military logistics. Troops, supported by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, reportedly repelled the attackers. Military authorities had not issued an official statement at the time of the report. Gajiram, about 82 kilometres from Maiduguri, has faced repeated attacks and attempted incursions by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.
