Troops Arrest Suspected Gunrunner, Recover AK-47 in Plateau Raid
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, working with vigilantes and local hunters, have arrested a 30-year-old woman during a raid in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation followed intelligence linked to the August 19 abduction of a medical doctor. Troops raided Kisayi and Dogon Daji settlements on August 21 after reports of criminal activity in the area. The suspect was allegedly caught with two AK-47 magazines while attempting to flee. A search of her residence reportedly recovered an AK-47 rifle, a locally made revolver, a military jungle hat and three mobile phones. She allegedly told investigators that the rifle belonged to her husband. Military authorities say investigations are ongoing to trace the firearms and establish possible links to kidnapping and illegal arms networks.
