Nnamdi Kanu Cites UK Pro-Independence Leaders in Call for Self-Determination

Nnamdi Kanu, through his lead counsel Aloy Ejimakor, has commented on the presence of pro-independence leaders in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Kanu said the development shows that demands for self-governance can be addressed through elections, referendums and political dialogue. He argued that self-determination is recognised as a fundamental human right. He also called on the British government and international bodies to apply similar democratic standards to Nigeria. His legal team said his appeal against his conviction and detention remains before the Court of Appeal.
