Grid Shortfall Cuts Electricity Supply in Parts of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun
Residents and businesses in parts of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun State are facing reduced electricity supply as distribution companies report grid allocation shortfalls, technical faults and transmission constraints. Ikeja Electric said inadequate power allocated from the national grid has reduced supply hours across its network, including areas around Ogba and FESTAC. Abuja Electricity Distribution Company attributed outages in communities such as Life Camp Extension, Idu Karmo and Kado to a technical fault, with repair work underway. Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company also reported load restrictions affecting parts of Ogun, including Ota, Ifo, Abeokuta, Mowe and Ibafo. The disruptions come amid wider financial and infrastructure pressures in the power sector, including collection losses, debts and limited investment in transmission and distribution networks.
