Lagos E-Hailing Drivers Begin Indefinite Strike Over Fares and Commissions
E-hailing drivers in Lagos have begun an indefinite strike over fare structures, platform commissions, deductions and welfare concerns. The action was announced by the Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria, an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress. The union said the strike would continue until the drivers' grievances are satisfactorily addressed. The drivers cited unresolved concerns about earnings, safety, security, working conditions and the long-term sustainability of their operations. The union also urged fleet owners and managers to temporarily ease daily remittance obligations and operational targets while the strike lasts.
