Falana Demands Answers on ₦15tn Coastal Highway Cost, Warns of 2027 Voter Suppression
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called on Nigerians to demand accountability over the estimated ₦15tn Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. He questioned reports that parts of the route may move inland and asked the Federal Government to clearly explain the project’s funding and expenditure. Falana said public scrutiny is necessary to hold government officials accountable. The highway, a flagship project of the Tinubu administration, is expected to link Lagos and Calabar along the southern corridor and has drawn debate over its cost, route and financing. He also warned that violence and intimidation could be used to stop eligible voters from participating in the 2027 elections in Lagos. He urged candidates across political parties to cooperate in protecting every voter’s rights, regardless of ethnicity or appearance.
