Alleged Mexican Cartel Meth Operations Emerging in Southwest Nigeria
I’ve come across three incidents in the past five years where Mexican nationals were arrested in Oyo, Asaba (Delta) and Ogun state for running meth labs alongside Southeastern Nigerians. These cases suggest the Mexican cartel—sometimes called the “Mexican mafia”—is producing amphetamines here. The cartel’s global meth supply has reportedly been funnelled to extremist groups, including Boko Haram and ISWAP, to sustain violence. Some sources even point to a so-called Marrano Jewish mafia behind these operations, claiming ties between El Chapo’s network and broader international crime syndicates. Meth’s stimulant effects grant unusual stamina and dull emotional response, making it attractive to terrorists. Authorities like the NSA should investigate these alleged labs in Nigeria’s forests before the cycle of drugs, weapons and violence deepens.
