IGP Urges Nigerians Not to Turn Police Officers Into Social-Media Content

Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun has raised concerns about the growing practice of recording police officers while they are on duty. Speaking during a meeting with Nigerian Bar Association leaders in Abuja, the IGP acknowledged that citizens have the right to film officers carrying out public duties. However, he urged Nigerians to exercise restraint and avoid using such videos merely for skits or social-media content. He added that officers deployed to remote checkpoints and high-risk locations face difficult conditions and should not be further demoralised.
