Lagos Bus Driver Arraigned for Stabbing Bar Owners Over N75,000 Beer Bill

Police say the incident occurred on May 10, 2026 at a bar in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. A commercial bus driver and his accomplices marked a birthday celebration and ran up a N75,000 drinks tab. When the bar owners asked for payment, the men allegedly refused, attacked the couple with a broken bottle and vandalised property worth about N5 million. AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh ordered a special investigative team to track down the suspects. Intelligence operations led to the driver’s arrest at a hideout in Ibeju-Lekki, while others remain at large. At Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, the driver faced five counts including assault, malicious damage and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of N500,000 with two sureties of like sum. He remains at Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending bail perfection, with the next mention on July 17, 2026.
