Nigerian Army Arrests Suspect Linked to Violence and Extortion Allegations in Taraba
Nigerian Army troops have arrested Denen Joe, popularly known as DJ Abam, in Peva, Taraba State. Residents of Peva and nearby communities described the arrest as a major development in efforts to address insecurity in the area. Community accounts allege that the suspect was involved in kidnapping, cattle rustling, extortion, illegal levies, unlawful detention and attacks on residents. He is also alleged to have links to past killings, property seizures and an ambush on security personnel in September 2025. The allegations have not been independently verified, and the arrest does not establish guilt. Authorities are expected to investigate the claims and determine whether other suspects were involved.
