Ogun Assembly Summons Dangote Cement Over Ibese Pollution and Truck Gridlock

The Ogun State House of Assembly has asked Dangote Cement, the Ministry of Special Duties and the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority to address environmental concerns affecting communities in the state. Lawmakers cited environmental degradation, heavy traffic and the indiscriminate parking of trucks around Ibese. They said a previously promised trailer park to ease congestion on roads leading to the cement plant has not been completed. The Assembly also raised concerns about flooding in Atiba, Odogbolu, where an eight-year-old boy reportedly died. Lawmakers called for standard drainage and other preventive measures, with an interface scheduled for 29 September.
