FRSC Seeks Community Support After 60 Road Deaths in Osun
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Osun has called on traditional rulers and community leaders to help curb dangerous driving and reduce road crashes across the state. The command said 220 crashes involving 300 vehicles were recorded in Osun last year. Sixty people were killed, while several others were injured. It linked many of the crashes to speeding, reckless driving, overloading, route violations, distraction, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. FRSC urged passengers to challenge drivers who speed or drive recklessly and to report suspected impaired drivers to patrol teams or the police. The Olufi of Gbonganland also pledged support for road-safety awareness in the community. The Gbongan Unit Command additionally inaugurated a mini library for its officers.
