Police Foil N10m Kidnap Ransom Exchange, Arrest Suspect in Oyo State
Security operatives arrested a suspected kidnapper as he tried to collect a N10m ransom in Otefon village, Atiba LGA, Oyo State. The victim, Alhaji Bagudu, was seized from his Ilowa home and held in the nearby forest after the gang invaded the residence on May 9. Acting on intelligence from the Vigilante Group, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and local vigilantes moved in on May 13. They secured the victim’s safe release before ambushing the kidnappers. One suspect, Mohammed Sanni, was injured and taken into custody while others fled into the forest. Authorities recovered a Hajoue motorcycle (reg. TUT 824 TY), a mobile phone, slippers and a cap now under forensic examination. The arrested suspect has made confessional statements. The police urge anyone with information on the fleeing gang members to report to the nearest station.
