Open Letter: Why Are APC and the Police Shielding Bandits?
I have long believed in the slogan “see something, say something” to protect our communities. Yet recent actions by the Nigerian Police and the APC-led government have left me both confused and alarmed. Residents in Ikorodu and Ibeju-Lekki recently detained a man openly wearing a bullet belt. Instead of a thorough investigation, the police rushed to clear him. This raises serious questions: Is carrying a bullet belt legal? Can minors own firearms? Are civilians allowed military-grade ammunition? Whenever citizens warn of bandit activity, they are dismissed as alarmists. But when kidnappings and attacks occur, APC supporters blame opposition politicians. This glaring double standard endangers lives and erodes public trust. The government owes Nigerians a clear explanation for this contradictory stance. We deserve answers. Enough is enough.
