Troops Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims, Intercept 44 ISWAP Family Members in Multi-State Operations

Nigerian troops rescued nine kidnap victims and intercepted 44 family members of ISWAP fighters during separate security operations in Borno, Zamfara and other states. In Borno, troops intercepted 43 people who reportedly fled clashes between Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in Yuwe. Another female family member of an ISWAP fighter was intercepted along the Gwoza-Limankara road after reportedly leaving a terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains. Troops also rescued five victims, including the chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara, from a suspected terrorist camp near Sekpore village. Four other civilians were rescued after troops responded to an attack on a vehicle along the Gusau-Sokoto road. Operations in Borno, Niger, Benue, Taraba and Edo also led to arrests, the recovery of rifles and ammunition, the destruction of a suspected terrorist camp, and the seizure of cannabis from two farms.
