Troops Rescue 30 Kidnap Victims, Neutralise Terrorists in Nationwide Operations
The Nigerian military says troops rescued 30 kidnapped victims and neutralised terrorists during operations conducted between August 31 and September 1 across several states. In Borno and Yobe, troops reportedly recovered rifles, ammunition and explosives after encounters with terrorists. One soldier was killed and another injured during an ambush in Bama, Borno State. Air strikes in Abadam were also said to have destroyed terrorist hideouts. Troops rescued nine victims from a forest in Bauchi and 21 others from Egume-Ochaja Forest in Kogi after kidnappers fled. Security forces also reported operations against cattle rustlers in Zamfara, suspected criminals in Plateau, illegal miners in Delta and oil thieves in Rivers.
