OPMESA assaults Mile 2 Traffic Reporter, seized phone in Lagos. By: Fashina Shakiru Fashina Shakiru, a Lagos-based Traffic Reporter was assaulted by OP-MESA at Mile 2 bus stop, Lagos/Badagry expressway . Fashina, who is the traffic correspondent for Mile 2 community news was brutalised by one of the soldiers, OP-MESA on a patrol around 8:56am this morning as he was going about his lawful duty which is to cover the per traffic and state around Apapa/Oshodi Express road before his phone was sized. The security operatives attached to a Special Security Outfits, ‘OP MESA’, threatened to shoot the journalist if he argued with me. The OP-MESA assumed that the journalist was 'covering' the patrol movement of the OPMESA , as one of them slapped him and hit him with a rod on the head. Responding to this, the Journalist maintained that "I am a Traffic Reporter, this is my Identification Card before one of the OP-MESAs cautioned him. He was eventually released the phone after checked phone gallery that the Journalist didn't have video of the OP-MESA operation on patrol.
