Bandits Kidnap Corpse of Late FRSC Deputy Commander and Mourners, Demand ₦450m Ransom in Kogi
Armed gunmen intercepted the vehicle carrying the remains of FRSC Deputy Corps Commander Augustine O. Ikwue on July 9 along the Ochadamu-Ejule road in Ofu LGA, Kogi State. They abducted nine mourners, including two FRSC operatives, and seized the corpse. The Kogi FRSC sector commander confirmed the attack and said the corpse was later found and returned to the family. The officer, who passed away in Osogbo after a brief illness, was buried in his hometown at Otukpo in Benue State. Kidnappers have demanded a ₦450 million ransom via the deceased officer’s phone. Security forces, including the Army, police, hunters and vigilantes, have been deployed to the area to rescue the hostages.
