Uganda Vows to Fight Alongside Israel in Middle East Conflict
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s military chief, announced on social media that his country stands ready to enter the Middle East war on Israel’s side. He warned that any talk of destroying Israel would force Uganda into the conflict. He cited Uganda’s Christian faith and quoted scripture to explain the country’s solidarity. He also recalled how Israel supported Uganda during challenging times in the 1980s and 1990s. Kainerugaba highlighted Uganda’s growing economy, now valued at around $100 billion. He sees this economic success as another reason to defend a long-standing partner. Last month, the general revealed plans to erect a statue of IDF Lt. Col. Yonatan Netanyahu at Entebbe Airport. Netanyahu was killed during the 1976 rescue mission, symbolizing the shared history between Uganda and Israel.
