Zimbabwean Man Gets 20 Years for Supplying Knife Used in Fatal Bar Fight
A Zimbabwean High Court has sentenced Timothy Mathonsi to 20 years in prison for supplying a hunting knife used to kill 18-year-old Simon Dube during a bar dispute over music. The court heard that Mathonsi gave the knife to Handsome Ngwenya after an earlier confrontation at Gombe Bar in Silobela on 16 August 2018. Ngwenya later stabbed Dube, who was pronounced dead at Kwekwe District Hospital. Mathonsi denied giving Ngwenya the weapon, but two witnesses testified otherwise. The judge ruled that by supplying the knife and fleeing after the attack, Mathonsi shared responsibility for the killing.
