NAF Airstrike Kills ISWAP Commander, Eight Fighters in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force says an intelligence-led airstrike in Borno State killed a senior Islamic State West Africa Province commander, Abu Khalid Al Muhajir, and eight other fighters. The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, reportedly targeted fighters moving towards a hideout in the Sambisa Forest. The NAF said a remotely piloted aircraft tracked the group before a precision strike was launched. According to the Air Force, Al Muhajir provided security escorts for senior ISWAP leaders and had detailed knowledge of routes linking terrorist enclaves in Sambisa and nearby areas. The military said the strike may disrupt ISWAP operations and followed intelligence linking some targets to a recent ambush on troops near Gwoza.
