Reps Panel Identifies 29 Allegedly Forged Documents in PFIPC Probe
The House of Representatives committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) says it has identified 29 documents suspected to have been forged to give legitimacy to the alleged non-existent agency. The panel gave the Inspector-General of Police 48 hours to produce the council's self-acclaimed director-general, Adeyemi Adeniyi. Police told lawmakers that Adeniyi had already been arrested, arraigned and charged before a Federal High Court over allegations of impersonation and related offences. Lawmakers heard that the disputed documents included purported approvals from the State House, the SGF's office, the Head of Service, the Finance Ministry and other institutions. The Accountant-General said a forged State House letter led to the creation of an administrative code, but stressed that no public funds were released to the council. The alleged agency reportedly sought to recruit about 300 personnel, obtain a N1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 budget and secure a N27.4 billion establishment grant. The House probe continues as investigators examine how the documents were used across government offices.
