Kim Unveils US-Reaching Missile as Trump Floats Possible Talks
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has displayed the Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile at a new defence museum, as US President Donald Trump says he may meet Kim during an upcoming trip to Asia. Images released by North Korean state media showed the missile, its mobile launcher and a diagram suggesting it could carry multiple warheads. The exhibition also featured submarine-launched missiles, hypersonic weapons and drones. However, the Hwasong-20 has not been publicly flight-tested since it was unveiled in October 2025. Trump is expected to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen on November 18 and 19, though no meeting with Kim has been confirmed. The two leaders previously met three times between 2018 and 2019, but talks collapsed over sanctions relief and North Korea’s nuclear programme. The display follows fresh missile launches reported by South Korea and Japan, raising renewed questions about whether Washington and Pyongyang could return to negotiations.
