US Judge Rejects Ghislaine Maxwell’s Bid to Overturn Epstein-Related Conviction

US Judge Rejects Ghislaine Maxwell’s Bid to Overturn Epstein-Related Conviction

A US judge has rejected Ghislaine Maxwell’s attempt to overturn her conviction and 20-year sentence for recruiting and grooming underage girls for Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse. Judge Paul Engelmayer ruled that Maxwell’s arguments were meritless, saying much of her supposed new evidence was either irrelevant or reinforced the earlier legal decisions. He also dismissed her claim that prosecutors withheld evidence. Maxwell was convicted in December 2021 on five counts connected to Epstein’s abuse of girls between 1994 and 2004. The judge said any further appeal would not be taken in good faith. She is serving her sentence in a federal prison camp in Texas and is eligible for release in July 2037.
