PDP Candidate Petitions INEC Over Alleged 70% Rise in Yagba East Voter Register
A PDP candidate for the Yagba East State Constituency in Kogi, Seun Ibigbemi, has petitioned INEC over an alleged sharp increase in the local government’s voter register. The petition claims registered voters rose from 53,436 in 2023 to 90,841, an increase of more than 37,000 voters. It alleges that some non-residents may have been registered during the Continuous Voter Registration exercise. The candidate asked INEC to conduct a forensic audit of the register, especially in wards with large increases. The petition also called for biometric checks to identify possible multiple registrations and investigate anyone found to have facilitated unlawful registration. INEC had not responded to the allegations, which have not been independently verified.
