Retired Commodore Warns Tinubu’s Presidency Could Harm Yoruba Political Standing
A retired Naval Commodore has argued that President Bola Tinubu’s administration could leave lasting political consequences for the Yoruba people, whether Tinubu wins or loses the 2027 election. In an interview, he criticised Nigeria’s governance, insecurity and economic hardship. He also said constitutional reform has been difficult because of the political interests surrounding the National Assembly and state governments. The former military officer called for a broad national reset and argued that Yoruba people should not support poor governance simply because the president shares their ethnic background. He further advocated Yoruba self-determination, while making several allegations about the government that were presented as his personal views. What do you think about his warning and his call for political reform?
