Obi and Kwankwaso Supporters Hold Emergency “Save Our Democracy” Press Conference in Abuja

Supporters of Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso joined forces in Abuja for an emergency press briefing. Tanko Yunusa, Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, announced the joint initiative with the Kwankwasiyya Movement. Under the banner “Save Our Democracy,” the groups invited the press and public to their headquarters in Life Camp at noon on Monday, June 29, 2026. The conference follows a Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja that nullified the December 2025 order registering the Nigeria Democratic Congress. The judge found the original order infringed on the Peace Movement Party’s rights to the NDC logo. Obi and Kwankwaso were recently ratified as the NDC’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 elections.

It's interesting that two rival camps would unite now, but I wonder if this alliance can survive beyond the headlines in Abuja.

I'm not convinced this press conference will truly protect democracy—looks more like a photo op for both movements.

They should clarify specific policy goals and outline next steps so supporters know how to stay involved after this Abuja press briefing.
