Bauchi Police Arrest 47 Allegedly Carrying Weapons at Disina Bye-Election Polling Units
Bauchi State Police Command says it arrested 47 people allegedly posing as members of a state-owned security outfit during the bye-election in the Disina State Constituency of Shira Local Government Area. Police said the suspects were arrested at different polling units and allegedly had firearms, cutlasses and sticks. They were not authorised to take part in election security operations, according to the command. The suspects and recovered weapons have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation and possible prosecution. Police said only agencies approved by the election-security committee were permitted to secure the polling units.
