NDLEA Busts Businessman at Lagos Airport with 6.1kg of Cocaine Hidden in Shirts and Towels
A 41-year-old Sao Paulo–based businessman, Abugu Oliver Ikechukwu, was arrested by NDLEA operatives at Murtala Muhammed International Airport on June 11, 2026. Officers discovered 6.10kg of liquid cocaine concealed in 14 shirts and towels imported from Brazil via Addis Ababa. The suspect, who runs an African restaurant in Brazil, says he returned to Nigeria to visit his wife and buy food supplies. A thorough search revealed the garments had been soaked, dried and pressed to mask the drugs. In separate operations, NDLEA also detained a 60-year-old woman, Chidimma Sunday, in Abia State with 1.8kg of skunk, and a 28-year-old man, Abubakar Usman, in Rivers State with methamphetamine, tramadol and other banned substances.
