Cross River: 241 Candidates Cleared to Contest 36 Seats in 2027

INEC has cleared 241 candidates from 14 political parties to contest 36 elective offices in Cross River during the 2027 general election. The races include one governorship seat, three Senate seats, eight House of Representatives seats and 24 State House of Assembly seats. Eight candidates will contest for governor, while 25 will seek Senate seats, 63 will vie for House of Representatives seats and 145 will contest state assembly seats. Of the candidates, 198 are men and 43 are women. APC, ADC and NDC are the only parties fielding candidates for all 36 positions. Five sitting National Assembly members from the state did not secure their parties’ tickets to seek re-election.
