Women Questioned Over Alleged Child Trafficking Linked to Purported Orphanage
Rose David, 47, said a woman she met at a church in Lube asked her to bring children found roaming the streets to an orphanage. She said the woman promised compensation and claimed the facility had government approval and a school for the children. David said she took one child under the arrangement and that the child was later recovered. She also said she had been remanded in connection with the matter but did not state that she had been convicted. In a separate interview, a woman identified as Joy admitted receiving ₦370,000 from the alleged orphanage operator. However, she denied taking the child at the centre of the case and said another woman was responsible. The interviews have not independently established the status of the alleged orphanage, the purpose of the payment, or the outcome of any investigation or court proceedings.
