Arizona Congressional Candidate Alleges Sexual Assault While Campaigning
Bernadette Greene-Placentia, a Democratic candidate for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, alleges that she was sexually assaulted while fixing a damaged campaign sign in a Sun City parking lot on August 14. She said she was struck in the head, briefly lost consciousness and later reported the incident to authorities. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a report was filed on August 31 and that an investigation is ongoing. Greene-Placentia said she chose to speak publicly to encourage support for survivors of sexual assault, which is also a focus of her campaign.
