Security Concerns and Extremism Need Fact-Based Discussion
I am concerned about extremist violence and the security threats it poses in Nigeria and other parts of the world. However, comparing real conflicts to fictional zombie or alien invasions can distort a serious issue. Nigeria continues to face threats from groups such as ISWAP, especially in parts of the North-East. These attacks affect communities, travellers and security personnel, and they require stronger intelligence, protection for civilians and regional cooperation. A foreign lawmaker’s immigration comments should not be treated as proof of claims about terrorism. Discussions about migration, religion and national security should rely on verified facts and avoid blaming entire communities for the actions of violent groups.
