NISO Restores Grid After 330kV Network Trippings Cut Generation to 477MW
The Nigerian Independent System Operator says normal operations have resumed after multiple trippings on the 330kV transmission network on Monday. Generation reportedly fell from 3,840 megawatts to about 477MW after the disturbance at around 12:40pm on October 19. The incident renewed concerns over the reliability of Nigeria’s power supply. NISO said only a section of the grid was affected and maintained that the incident was not a nationwide grid collapse. It said it worked with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to stabilise the system and complete restoration.
