NPA Mourns Former Chief Executive Bamanga Tukur, Who Dies at 90
The Nigerian Ports Authority has mourned the death of its former General Manager and Chief Executive, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who died in Abuja on September 12, 2026, at the age of 90. NPA Managing Director Dr Abubakar Dantsoho described Tukur as a major figure in trade facilitation and port development. He said the former NPA chief helped lay the foundation for modern port administration and more efficient cargo handling in Nigeria. Tukur led the NPA from 1975 to 1982. The authority extended condolences to his family, the people of Adamawa State and Nigerians over his death.
