Five Americans, Ecuador Intelligence Chief Die in Kenya Helicopter Crash
Five Americans and Ecuador’s intelligence chief, Michele Sensi-Contugi, were among seven people killed when a helicopter crashed near Mount Ololokwe in central Kenya on Wednesday, August 19. The aircraft was transporting guests booked through a luxury tour agency from Loisaba Wildlife Conservancy to the Ewaso Ngiro River. Ecuadorian media reported that Sensi-Contugi’s wife, fashion designer Stephany Sensi, also died. Telemundo confirmed that one of its executives, Josué Suárez, was among the victims. Kenyan emergency teams launched search and recovery operations, but difficult terrain and a fire at the crash site complicated the effort. Authorities have opened an investigation, and the cause of the crash has not been determined.
