Nigeria Daily Brief: IPPIS Audit, 2027 Politics, Trafficking Rescue and Security Operations

Nigeria’s latest developments include President Bola Tinubu’s order for a forensic audit of federal payroll, pension and financial-management systems. The review is expected to examine alleged ghost workers, fake agencies and possible gaps in government controls. Political groups are also positioning for the 2027 elections. The ADC says it is open to cooperation with opposition groups, while the Obi-Kwankwaso movement has rejected a merger plan and says it will retain its identity. In Lagos, INTERPOL police operatives rescued two Colombian women allegedly held by a human-trafficking syndicate. Security forces also reported operations against suspected criminal and terrorist collaborators in Kaduna and Katsina, while efforts continue to rescue abducted worshippers in Niger State. Other developments include a UK court case involving entertainer Poco Lee, Miss World Nigeria’s Top 40 progress, and reports of deportations and criminal investigations involving Nigerians abroad. Several of these matters remain under investigation or before the courts.
