Yobe Youths Protest Economic Hardship, Insecurity and Unemployment in Potiskum
Hundreds of young people staged a peaceful protest in Potiskum, Yobe State, on October 1, expressing frustration over economic hardship, insecurity and unemployment. The protesters said President Bola Tinubu’s Independence Day address did not address their concerns. They marched through the Tsohowar Kasuwa area carrying placards, while some displayed African Democratic Congress flags. Participants said they were exercising their right to peaceful expression and called for improved governance, security, jobs and better conditions for Nigerians. Eyewitnesses said the protest remained orderly.
