Kano Police Arrest Five Over Alleged Sale of Counterfeit Herbal Medicines
Police in Kano have arrested five suspects over allegations of impersonation and the production and sale of counterfeit herbal medicines. Zone One police said the arrest followed a complaint by the CEO of a Bauchi-based herbal and Islamic clinic. The complainant alleged that the suspects used his name, business identity and recorded lectures to market fake products and collect payments from customers. The suspects allegedly failed to supply some medicines after receiving money, while other buyers were sold herbal mixtures said to pose health risks. Police said the suspects gave statements admitting involvement, while efforts continue to identify and arrest other persons linked to the case. The police advised residents to verify vendors, products and payment channels before buying medicines, especially through social media.
