Northern Christian Elders Urge Tinubu to Reverse Petrol Price Increase
The Northern States Christian Elders Forum has urged President Bola Tinubu to reverse the latest increase in petrol prices, warning that Nigerians’ patience should not be taken as acceptance of worsening hardship. The group said rising fuel costs would further strain households already dealing with high food prices, transport fares and declining purchasing power. It called for alternative revenue sources instead of placing more pressure on citizens. The elders also urged the Federal Government to prioritise cost-of-living relief, jobs for young people, security and critical infrastructure. They warned against relying on officials who may understate the economic difficulties facing ordinary Nigerians.
