Zamfara Police Rescue Two Mothers and Three Children from Armed Bandits
On July 22, armed bandits intercepted a Golf vehicle on Gummi–Sokoto Road and abducted two women and their three children. The Violent Crime Response Unit was mobilised after the distress call. A brief gunfight broke out when officers arrived. The attackers fled into the bush, abandoning the victims. Hauwa’u Saidu, Hauwa’u Umaru and their children were rescued unharmed and taken for medical checks before reuniting with their families. That same morning, a routine patrol along Kaura Namoda–Gusau Road engaged another group of suspected bandits. Police recovered an AK-47 rifle and a Boxer motorcycle after the criminals fled with injuries. The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and urged residents to share timely information to strengthen the fight against banditry across Zamfara State.
