Two Civilians Killed, Three Police Officers Injured in Ikire Gun Attack
Two civilians were killed and three police officers were critically injured after gunmen attacked a police patrol team at the Naira and Kobo area of Ikire, along the Ibadan–Ife Expressway in Osun State. Police said the team, led by the Ikire Divisional Police Officer, was responding to a report of an alleged abduction when unidentified assailants opened fire on their operational vehicle. The attackers reportedly seized an AK-47 rifle and used it to fire indiscriminately. The gunmen also took the police vehicle, which was later recovered with bullet holes and a damaged windscreen. Nine expended shells were recovered for forensic analysis. The police said an investigation is underway to identify and arrest those responsible.
