Southern Political Forum Warns ADC to Vet Atiku-Abubakar/Amaechi 2027 Ticket

Southern Political Forum Warns ADC to Vet Atiku-Abubakar/Amaechi 2027 Ticket

The Southern Political Progressives Amalgamation Forum (SPPAF) has urged the African Democratic Congress to conduct thorough vetting before confirming a possible Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi ticket for the 2027 election. SPPAF cited past court rulings that overturned election results on technical grounds, notably the 2020 Supreme Court decision that invalidated the Bayelsa governorship win over documentation issues. The group warned that parties must ensure full legal compliance during nominations. It advised all parties to strengthen internal screening processes and adhere strictly to the Electoral Act to avoid post-election litigation. The ADC says it has submitted its ticket to INEC, but did not respond directly to SPPAF’s call.

What impact could SPPAF's call for thorough vetting have on ADC's nomination process and public perception?

I get your worry; do you think thorough vetting will boost ADC's credibility or slow their nomination timetable?

It's notable that SPPAF referenced past court rulings overturning elections when urging extra scrutiny for Atiku-Abubakar and Amaechi.

A practical next step could be defining measurable vetting criteria and setting public deadlines so ADC's process remains transparent.
