Unemployment: Can Citizens Help Create Jobs Beyond Government?
We were taught in primary and secondary school to write local government chairmen about poor water supply, inadequate electricity, damaged school desks and other community needs. After university, do we still write to government bodies with practical ideas, or do we only complain online? Politicians and wealthy individuals may pay attention to business proposals that show how jobs and income can be created. There are many machines and business models not yet common in Nigeria. We can research them and present convincing proposals to local or state officials, investors and affluent people around us. A new venture does not have to be government-owned to create employment. I believe unemployment cannot be solved by government alone. I am also unemployed, so I understand the struggle, but I think we should push practical ideas alongside our complaints.
