Emir of Katsina Criticises Tinubu Government Over Hunger and Insecurity
The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman, has criticised the Federal Government over hardship and insecurity in the state. He said politicians often seek support before elections but fail to return to address residents’ concerns afterward. Speaking during a visit by Abdulaziz Yari, the emir said the government’s Renewed Hope agenda had brought “renewed hunger” to many people. He accused political leaders of placing personal interests above public service. He said bandit attacks had reportedly forced the closure of about 52 schools and stopped farmers from accessing farmlands in 12 local government areas. The emir urged political leaders to prioritise security in communities such as Batsari, Jibia and Safana instead of focusing on the 2027 elections. He also warned that voters may reject politicians who offer cash or food items during campaigns without delivering meaningful improvements afterward.
