Police Ask VDM to Provide Evidence of Officers Aiding Kidnappers

The Nigeria Police Force has asked social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, to provide evidence for his claim that officers at highway checkpoints share travellers’ information with kidnappers and bandits. The Force Public Relations Officer said the allegation, reportedly made at the Nigerian Bar Association conference in Port Harcourt, was serious and should be supported with credible proof. The police said checkpoint officers are deployed to prevent crime and protect travellers. The Force added that any officer found to have compromised their duty would face internal disciplinary action and prosecution. It urged VDM and other Nigerians with evidence of police misconduct to submit it for urgent investigation.
